Power Management
Analog
Silicon performs the design of ultra low power (500nA -- 5uA)
analog ICs for a variety of battery operated applications where
multi-year battery lifetime is a critical application requirement. Typical
products provide 5—10 year battery lifetimes from standard low cost alkaline
& lithium batteries. Our main area of focus is the power consumption and
power management challenge in remote un-tethered devices operating from small
low cost batteries and power scavenging sources.
Ultra low
power analog IC operation allows for continuous monitoring in the application
i.e. the chip goes into an ultra low power sleep mode while still running its
oscillators, controller and sensing circuit inputs, and can itself independently
(without any external stimulus) wake up in response to change in sensed
inputs or at pre-timed intervals for further supervision and/or host/RF
communications. Operating in this manner allows for substantially better
applications’ performance than approaches which use the historical
“dumb-device” approach of a power down mode with an external wake-up needed.
Ultra low power continuous operation also allows wider integrator options for
lowest cost microprocessors/cores and other key system functions.

Proven success
Analog Silicon staff have designed over 10,000,000 devices now deployed in field service, of which 5,000,000 units are used in battery operated low power wireless sensing & telemetry. Reliability is a key requirement for these designs, because of their autonomous operation. These unique low power analog IC solutions have enabled end-product sales revenues of over 400M$.
